KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
Jason Delambre, Interdependent Energies, LLC, is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) who works with clients to maximize profitability through effective utilization of natural resources and the development of ground-breaking greenhouse gas emission reduction and energy efficiency solutions. Throughout his career, Jason has developed an extensive knowledge of architecture, construction, urban planning, energy, university sustainability and greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies. His undergraduate education was in Architecture and History, and he holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Cincinnati. During his career, Jason has developed a unique vision of the greenhouse gas reduction strategies and energy efficiency synergies possible through innovative business, infrastructural, financial, policy, and community organizing strategies.
As Independent Energies, LLC, Jason Delambre worked with the University of Cincinnati to develop their 2009 Climate Action Plan. Before launching Independent Energies, Jason was a Carbon Consultant with Camco International’s North American division. In this role, he managed the greenhouse gas emissions assessment of the 2008 Democratic National Convention, developed other organizational and state emission assessments and provided national policy and carbon market analysis.
Mike Kernagis is Co-Founder/Program Director of the Passive House Institute US | PHIUS, which provides training and certification in regards to Passive House construction techniques. He was one of the first builders in the US to adopt and build to Passive House standards. As the construction manager he oversaw the construction process of the non-profit Ecological Construction Laboratory’s first Passive House sites.
Katrin Klindenburg, Executive Director, Passive House Institute U.S. and Director Ecological Construction Laboratory. Katrin Klingenberg is Co-Founder/Executive Director of the Passive House Institute US | PHIUS which promotes the Passive House Standard as defined by the Passivhaus Institut Dr. Feist in Darmstadt. She built the first Passive House designed to this standard in the US, designs and consults on Passive House projects across North America and is a licensed architect in Germany.
Ginger Watkins is the Sustainable Building Specialist for Kentucky Habitat for Humanity providing technical assistance in sustainable design and construction to the 53 Habitat Affiliates around the Commonwealth. She is a Certified Home Energy Rater, LEED Accredited Professional and Certified Passive House Consultant. Ginger's career has focused on green and energy-efficient building design in the commercial and residential sectors. She assisted the Commonwealth in development of the Kentucky High Performance Building Standards and was instrumental in Boone Tavern achieving LEED Gold. Ginger is passionate about collaborating to find innovative solutions to enable the development of affordable, super-efficient homes that act as a resource to families and, in turn, enable them to be a resource to their own communities.

Daniel J. Adams, P.E. Licensed KY Mechanical Engineer. Bachelor of Engineering, University of Cincinnati, 1994. C.E.O. Thermal Equipment Sales, Thermal Equipment Service and Indiana Thermal Solutions - a 75 person regional Engineered HVAC Equipment conglomerate. Construction Industry background includes experience in homebuilding, pipefitting, contracting, engineering, service and sales of energy efficient and sustainable HVAC systems. Board Member - Association of General Contractors, Legislative Committee member. Former Board Member, US Green Building Council - KY chapter. 4 year student of Vistage, a global CEO resource for advanced problem solving, networking and continuing education. Studied Business Enterprise Valuation and Investing at Columbia.
Jim Embry, Sustainable Communities Network. As the lifeblood of Sustainable Communities Network, a community-based non-profit organization located in Lexington, KY, Jim endeavors to educate, inspire, and empower community members to bring about systemic changes in all of our institutions that are necessary to create sustainable cities. He believes that a local sustainable food system is the foundation for sustainable living and a sustainable city and endeavors to educate and build a critical mass of community members that unites our individual concerns into collective action, to inspire environmental stewardship, personal responsibility, leadership, systems thinking & cooperation and empower our communities to become part of the sustainability movement.
Michael Hughes is a design associate at the CSC Design Studio, a Lexington-based design firm specializing in the design of net-zero energy buildings and sustainable cities. He is a LEED accredited professional and is one of only two Certified Passive House Consultants in the state of Kentucky. Learn more about his work at www.cscdesignstudio.com.
Prof. Richard S. Levine is the principal architect at the CSC Design Studio, a Lexington-based design firm specializing in the design of net-zero energy buildings and sustainable cities. Prof. Levine was recently named the American Solar Energy Society's 2010 Passive Solar Pioneer. He has taught at the University of Kentucky for over 40 years where he is also the co-director of the Center for Sustainable Cities. Learn more about Prof. Levine's work at www.cscdesignstudio.com.
Greg Luhan, Associate Dean of Research, Associate Professor, School of Architecture, University of Kentucky and Kentucky Housing Corporation-John Russell Groves Professor in Affordable Housing Design. Among his solar and sustainability-oriented studio projects are the UK S•KY Blue Team for 2009 Solar Decathalon (http://www.uky.edu/Design/Solar_Decathlon/index.html), the Resonance House, a LEED for Homes project, and 634 North Limestone St., designed to serve as a model for Habitat. The new building will be historically sympathetic to the existing home, but it will be completely contemporary inside and part of the LEED for Homes program.
Clive Pohl, Architect, LEED AP, Principal, Pohl Rosa Pohl. Clive Pohl, AIA is a graduate of the University of Washington (March), a registered architect in the state of Kentucky. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, an original member of the USGBC KY Chapter Board of Directors, Past Chair of the Education Committee, a representative on the SE Regional Council, and a frequent speaker on the subject of Green Building. In 2009 he was appointed by KY Governor Steve Beshear to a 2 year seat on the High Performance Buildings Advisory Committee. He is a musician, an award winning furniture designer and skilled craftsman.
